They say that planning a wedding on your own is difficult, but never could I have imagined just how true this statement is. My husband David and I wanted to be married in Newcastle upon Tyne. He is a UK citizen, I am not. I was living in Toronto, Canada at the time which added complexity. When you bring into the fold the time differences to arrange calls with venues/caterers, not to mention the immigration considerations, it seemed almost impossible and I was becoming very discouraged.

That was…. until I turned to Google. Never could I have imagined that by simply searching for “north east wedding planner” that all my worries would disappear and that David and I would be able to get the wedding we always wanted. I had found Donna at North East Wedding Planners and after a quick call and forwarding her a description of what type of wedding we were looking for, I immediately felt at ease and that I had someone who not only knew her stuff but understood me.

Despite any logistic challenges we managed to work through the details via email and several meetings during my visit over the Christmas holidays in UK. Donna always made herself available to me – even taking time away from her holidays – which I am ever so grateful for. 

She not only helped me focus on what I wanted, always offering guidance/choice when needed, coordinated all the details with the venues/suppliers and even the registrar but also introduced us to many of her preferred suppliers. The wonderful thing was that, just like Donna, the florist, photographers, cake decorator, hair and make-up artists as well as Mark from Classic Collection Wedding Cars where all of the highest quality and a pleasure to work with.

I would have been lost without Donna and her NEWP partners and I cannot recommend her services enough. She is kind, knowledgeable, experienced and quickly became an unbiased friend – which every bride needs.

Melanie & Lee Marshall - Celebrity style wedding without the price tag

When it came to planning my wedding I knew I wanted a simple, modern, elegant winter theme for my November wedding with a few WOW factors along the way. However making it happen was harder than both my mum and I thought. A friend recommended and introduced me to Donna, with her friendly and professional approach it suddenly seemed to all fall into place. I had a wish list for my wedding, which some family and friends thought extravagant and impossible. However within a week my snowy owl dream had become a reality, and within another 6 weeks I had beautiful Las Vegas dancers who certainly grabbed the attention of my evening guests.

Friends and family were mesmerized and amazed by the magician who regularly performs for clients such as Ozzy and Sharon Osborne, Jeremy Clarkson to mention a few. Not only did North East Wedding Planners bring my ideas and dreams to life but reduced the budget in the process. Sometimes it is the small things that make all the difference, instead of worrying about the children running around, Donna organised a crèche, giant connect four and a special children’s menu to keep the children occupied and allow the parents freedom to enjoy themselves. Donna really did make my wedding perfect and the wedding planning was made so much easier, she offered great advice and introduced me to fabulous suppliers. Just having her there on the day knowing everything was being taken care of, helped. I would recommend Donna to anyone.

Jean & Michael Colston - We are oldies can you help!!!

We contacted Donna for help with the wedding arrangements after we hit the first problem - the perfect venue... We warned her that we were an ‘old’ couple on our second time around and not up to the stresses of dealing with endless meetings with suppliers and decision making. As soon as we met Donna we knew that she was the missing link in our wedding plans.  We wanted a small classy ‘do’ with the importance placed on having our friends and family around us. We let her see what we had organised so far (not much) and the rest was history.

Donna listen to our ideas and then she made our dreams a reality, gently guiding us,  negotiated with suppliers and saved us alot of money along the way. Our wedding day was perfect and our photographs show that we had smiles on our faces from beginning to end.   Donna was with us all day, and held her promise of holding my hand right up to the point my son walked me down the aisle. Donna and her team were there to make sure we all had a wedding to remember for the rest of our lives.

Every bride should have Donna to guide them through the madness of arranging a wedding. Donna is not just our wedding planner; she is our friend and has been adopted into our family. Now very proud to be called Mrs Jean Colston (bride)
